About the artist:

Jacinth Kaur (b. 1999) is a New Delhi-based multidisciplinary artist. Her practice features bright, whimsical characters engaged in mundane activities, occupying the canvas to suggest they are concealing something. Through them, she explores how existence itself tends to hide within the ordinary actions, biases, and social notions that define human behaviour. Jacinth actively extends these concepts across mediums, including independently published zines, sculptures to an ongoing exploration of transitioning her painted narratives into animation. For Jacinth, zines represent a vital, liberating extension of her primary studio practice. They open up limitless design possibilities and an expansive, playful arena where she seamlessly fuses raw drawings with immediate writings, stream of consciousness thoughts, and graphic layouts. This medium allows Jacinth to navigate the subtle, overlooked nuances of the mundane with a narrative freedom that a singular canvas might constrain. Her zines function as portable, sequential diaries that capture fleeting psychological insights and everyday observations in their most authentic, joyful form. Operating from her studio, Jacinth maintains a rigorous dual practice as a studio practitioner and a freelance artist.
