Purvi Sharma
Paper weaving with photographs
Dimensions: 8.3 x 11.7 inches
About the artist:
Purvi Sharma is a sculptor and multidisciplinary artist based in Vadodara. She holds an M.V.A. and B.V.A. from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda, specialising in Sculpture. Her practice emerges from the textures of daily life like paper, scissors, vases, threads, fragments. Working with ordinary materials, Purvi thinks about home not only as a physical space but as a psychological and emotional condition: a place where memories, habits, and vulnerabilities quietly accumulate. She is drawn to unnoticed domestic arrangements and what they reveal about mental and emotional states, finding herself perpetually between chaos and order, resisting structure while longing for it. Her compositions appear grid-like and repetitive, yet remain fragile, interrupted, and incomplete. Through sculpture, drawing, photography, weaving, and installation she utilised the processes of cutting, layering, dismantling, reconstructing as she approaches making as a continuous act of learning and re-examination.
